Andhra Pradesh: TTD To Replace Hotels With Free Food Distribution Centres In Tirumala

Speaking after the meeting, Reddy said that the decision was taken to ensure that none of the devotees in Thirumala have to spend money to buy food.

Hyderabad: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board of Trustees, after a meeting under chairperson YV Subba Reddy on Thursday, decided to replace hotels and fast food outlets in Tirumala with free Annaprasadam (meal) distribution centres to ensure that everyone gets the same food.

Speaking after the meeting, Reddy said that the decision was taken to ensure that none of the devotees in Thirumala have to spend money to buy food.

In the wake of easing of the Covid-19 restrictions by the Centre and the state government, TTD has decided to expand the issuing of Sarva Darshan and Seegra Darshan tickets and allow devotees to participate in Arjitha Sevas in a phased manner. Due to the Covid epidemic, the TTD had suspended all Arjitha Sevas since March 2020.

The Board further confirmed that there are no plans to raise the prices of Arjitha Sevas and said that a budget of Rs 3,096.40 crore has been approved for the financial year 2022-23.

The Trust Board has also approved the plan to build Sri Padmavati Children's Hospital at the cost of Rs 230 crore, as decided by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, said the TTD chief Subba Reddy. The project is expected to be completed in two years.

''We will set up the Annamayya route as soon as possible. It has been decided to put gold plating at the Anandanilayam and Bangaruvakili of Srivari Temple entrance. TTD has so far provided Rs 100 crore for the construction of Srinivasa Setu. Another Rs 150 crore will be sanctioned by December,” added the TTD chairman.
