At least five people died and seven others were injured after a speeding lorry rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu.

At least five people died and seven others were injured after a speeding lorry rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Dachepalle mandal of Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday morning, reported ANI citing police. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

This comes two days after seven people were killed in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh's YSR Kadapa district, while eight others sustained grievous injuries. The victims were returning in a vehicle after paying obeisance at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirupati. The Jeep collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. While seven people died on the spot, eight others were injured.

The deceased and injured hailed from Tadipatri in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district and Bellary in neighbouring Karnataka. The victims included women and children. Since the accident occurred in darkness, police had a tough time rescuing the victims. The injured were initially rushed to a hospital in Tadipatri and later shifted to Anantapur.
