Twarit (03.08.18): 7 parties shake hands against Pakistan PM elect Imran Khan

Days after Imran Khan’s party Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaaf bagged maximum seats in the general elections, paving his way for becoming the next Prime Minister of the country, massive turbulence has hit Pakistan politics.

The opposition has built hindrances on Imran Khan’s path to PM seat. Eight parties, including Nawaz Sharif’s party Pakistan Muslim League and Belawal Bhutto’s party Pakistan’s people are set to present their PM candidates in front of Imran Khan in the parliament.

As per the opposition, the PM candidate would be from Nawaz Sharif’s party only.

Imran Khan on the other hand is trying to shake hands with smaller parties for majority, but the opposition isn’t willing to let him take the PM post easily hence to everyone’s surprise rival Bhutto’s party and Nawaz Sharif’s party have stood together against Imran.

Pakistan's NA - the lower house of Parliament - comprises a total of 342 members, of which 272 are directly elected. A party needs 172 seats to form the government.

Meanwhile, the claims of vote-rigging also gathered steam in Pakistan as five empty ballot boxes and over a dozen papers were found by the roadside in Karachi and Sialkot, raising suspicion over the poll body's claims of having conducted free and fair general elections.
