Puneri Paltan edged past Gujarat Fortunegiants 33-31 in a thrilling encounter of the ongoing Pro Kabaddi league at the Patliputra Indoor Stadium in Patna on Monday.

The Pune based franchise registered their maiden win over mighty Gujarat Fortunegiants in the seventh meeting between the two teams.

Paltans secured an impressive win on the back of an all-round performance by their raiders and tacklers. Pawan Kadian led the raid charge for the Paltans with six raid points, besides Girish Maruti Ernak's six tackle points.

Raider Sachin claimed nine raid points for Gujarat Fortunegiants, while Sumit was the best defender with two tackle points.

Puneri Paltan and Gujarat Fortunegiants came into the encounter on the back of conflicting results in season 7 so far. While Puneri Paltan picked up the first win of their season against Patna Pirates in their previous encounter, Gujarat Fortunegiants had to face their first defeat of the season against U Mumba.
