Iran Claims US Forced Into Ceasefire After Missile Strike on Qatar Base, Trump Pleaded for Peace

Following 12 days of intense conflict between Iran and Israel, a ceasefire has been declared, bringing temporary relief to a region on the brink of wider war. However, Iranian media is now claiming that the United States was forced into brokering the ceasefire after Iran’s powerful retaliatory missile strike on the Al Udeid U.S. airbase in Qatar. According to Iranian reports, the attack was carried out by the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) in response to the U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.Iranian state outlets quoted officials saying, “Our people imposed the ceasefire on the enemy through defense of the homeland.” They allege that just hours after the successful missile strike on the U.S. base, President Donald Trump made an “urgent plea” for ceasefire talks, acknowledging that further escalation would be dangerous for all parties involved. Trump has since stated that Iran and Israel both approached him seeking peace and emphasized that the ceasefire is a “great day” for the Middle East. While Israel has claimed that some missile attacks from Iran continue despite the ceasefire, the broader diplomatic tone has shifted towards de-escalation. Talks on Iran’s nuclear program are expected to resume soon as part of this diplomatic breakthrough.
