Space tourism an extravagance in the name of adventure?

Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin, and SpaceX are opening up for space tourism. India-born Sirisha Bandla reached space through Virgin Galactic's space mission. Recently Richard Branson, the founder of the private space agency Virgin Galactic, has created a stir by traveling before Amazon founder Jeff Bezos by traveling to space on July 11.  It seems as if there is a strange competition among these billionaires to travel to space.
