Why Assembly elections of 5 states are important?
The upcoming Assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh are important due to various reasons. As the next Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in 2024, it is important for all the national parties to attempt their best in these 5 states because they hold a total of 19% seats in the Lower House. Also, these states have 18% seats in the Rajya Sabha. Also, out of the 4,120 Assembly seats in India, these states account for 17% seats.
