Wayanad Landslide Death Toll Continues To Rise, Now At 228 | ABP News
On Monday night, heavy rains in Wayanad, Kerala triggered a landslide, severely affecting many people. Leaders including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi have expressed their condolences. Rescue operations are underway with the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, NDRF, and local administration working together. The ADGP reported that over a thousand affected individuals have been rescued so far. A control center has been set up in Meppadi in addition to the state administration's control room. According to Onmanorama, the death toll has reached 251, with 27 bodies taken to Meppadi Hospital. Schools in Wayanad are closed, and NCC students are assisting victims. The Southern Command has released videos and images of the rescue efforts, noting that additional teams and bridging equipment are arriving.
