Uttarkashi Disaster: Landslides and Flooding Leave Dharali Inaccessible | ABP NEWS

After a devastating cloudburst hit Dharali, Harsil, and Sukki Top in Uttarkashi, the region is now facing severe infrastructure damage. Continuous rainfall and landslides have washed away or sunken multiple sections of the Gangotri Highway, leaving rescue teams stranded and connectivity completely disrupted. Our ground team reported from Dharali village, where NDRF, ITBP, and Army teams are tirelessly working to restore road access. Multiple sections of the road have either collapsed or been blocked by debris. Heavy machinery is being used to remove massive rocks and fill sunken roads with mud to allow ambulances and rescue personnel to pass. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police are present on-site, monitoring progress and coordinating operations. A temporary helipad has been established at Jhala to deliver rescue materials, and a state helicopter is being used for aerial assessments and relief drops. Despite these efforts, the persistent rain and recurring landslides are posing major obstacles. Officials fear that more roads may collapse if the rain continues. Locals and authorities alike are doing everything possible to reconnect Dharali, bring in essential aid, and evacuate the stranded—but the weather remains the biggest challenge.
