Heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has caused severe flooding on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, submerging key commercial and transport areas including a truck terminal and a food mall on the Mumbai-bound side. The situation worsened as continuous rain led to large-scale waterlogging, trapping workers and disrupting normal operations. Authorities have intensified rescue and relief operations as multiple locations along the Mumbai–Pune corridor remain affected. The entire route has been severely impacted, with roads, railway tracks, residential areas, and commercial spaces inundated. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Mumbai, warning of continued heavy rainfall. Officials have urged citizens to avoid travel and follow safety advisories as emergency teams continue to respond to stranded individuals and worsening flood conditions across the region.
