Massive Landslide in Wayanad, Kerala: Death Toll Rises, Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi Express Grief

A heavy landslide occurred in Wayanad district, Kerala, resulting in widespread devastation. The incident took place in the hilly area of Meppadi. As of the latest reports, 11 fatalities have been confirmed, but sources suggest that the death toll may rise further. The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, is feared to have trapped over 100 people. According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, fire and NDRF teams have commenced rescue operations in the affected area. The army has also taken charge of the situation, with a rapid rescue operation underway. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has expressed his condolences on Twitter, and PM Modi has assured assistance to Kerala's Chief Minister during a phone call, promising every possible support from the central government.
