Locust attack in UP's Gorakhpur
Several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Bhadohi, Azamgarh and Ambedkar Nagar, have been facing locust attacks. Entire corn crops have been destroyed by locusts in villages. This insect, a type of a grasshopper, can eat more than its body weight. A one square kilometre of locust swarm containing around 40 million locusts, can eat as much food as 35,000 people in a day.
