Lakhimpur Kheri Tiger Search: Residents Confined to Homes and Children Fear Going to School

In Uttar Pradesh, the terror of wild animals has caused widespread panic, particularly in the districts of Bahraich and Lakhimpur Kheri. While Bahraich is dealing with the threat of wolves, Lakhimpur Kheri is facing the menace of tigers. Authorities are currently searching for eight tigers in Lakhimpur Kheri, deploying two drones and 20 cameras for the operation. This urgent search follows a series of tiger attacks that have resulted in three fatalities in the past month. Three days ago, a 45-year-old man named Amrish was killed by a tiger while cutting grass in the Imliyapur village of the Haiderabad police station area. Forest officials, led by DFO Sanjay Biswal, are actively tracing the tiger's movements using drone cameras. The recent rainfall and flooding have driven these animals out of their natural habitats, increasing the likelihood of human-wildlife conflicts. Tigers can travel up to 10 kilometers in a day, making their capture challenging. The forest department has set up four traps and is receiving assistance from NGOs to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. The state’s forest minister has also issued directives to ensure the swift capture of the eight tigers.
