In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, 8 Police personnel lost their lives after being fired upon by criminals when they had gone to raid Bikaru village in search of history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. SSP Kanpur says, "They'd gone to arrest him following a complaint of an attempt to murder against him. They were ambushed". While CM Yogi has condemned the heinous act and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to next of kin of the martyrs, Opposition leaders like Priyanka Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have slammed the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
