India Speeds Up Bunker Construction Near LoC As Indo-Pak Tensions Rise After Pahalgam Attack

In Jammu’s Samba district, located just meters from the India-Pakistan international border, the construction of community bunkers has gained momentum. These bunkers are being built to provide safe shelter for civilians living in border villages during emergency situations such as shelling or aerial attacks. ABP News reached one such site, showing laborers working intensively on newly constructed bunkers with exceptionally thick roofs—around one foot thick—to withstand potential shelling from across the border. These structures, unlike regular buildings with 5-8 inch ceilings, are fortified to resist direct hits. The Indian government sees these bunkers as critical life-saving shelters, especially in the event of war-like conditions. This preparation reflects growing concern amid deteriorating Indo-Pak relations, with residents near the LoC being equipped with secure spaces to protect lives. Dozens of such bunkers are being constructed across the region, signaling serious readiness measures against any Pakistani provocation.
