Delhi Rains: Storm Turns Deadly! 4 Killed by Falling Tree, Questions Raised on Civic Claims

A sudden thunderstorm and heavy rain swept through Delhi-NCR last night, providing much-needed relief from the sweltering heat. However, the intense weather also brought devastation. In Dwarka’s Kharkhari Nahar village, tragedy struck when a tree collapsed onto a tubewell room in a field, killing four individuals. The storm has reignited public concern over civic preparedness and infrastructure failures. At the Minto Bridge—a known waterlogging hotspot—vehicles were once again trapped under several feet of water. This comes despite assurances given just days earlier, on April 18, by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma that such incidents would not recur this year. The incident raises serious questions about the effectiveness of preventive measures promised by the administration. The storm also led to fallen trees across multiple localities, traffic jams, and blocked roads, further exposing the fragile state of Delhi’s urban management system in handling extreme weather conditions. While the rain offered a brief reprieve from the heat, it left behind chaos and sorrow for many. The loss of lives and repeated infrastructure failure have left citizens demanding accountability and immediate action.
