Chandigarh: People unable to do 'asthi visarjan' due to lockdown
Due to lockdown, people are unable to do 'ashti visarjan' of their dead relatives. The situation is so dire that all the lockers where the 'asthi kalash' are kept, are full. In Hindu and Sikh culture, the mortal remains of the dead are cremated and then the ashes are submerged into the rivers. However, due to lockdown, those who the relatives of those who have died are unable to travel to a river where they can do this ritual.
