The protesters, reportedly angered after watching the film Chhava, threatened to change the names of the streets. The signboards, which originally bore the names of Akbar and Babar, were altered with the black paint and Shivaji's posters in protest against the historical figures they felt represented oppression. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Delhi Police quickly intervened, removing the posters and cleaning the black paint from the signboards. The youths expressed that the names of the streets, including Akbar Road, Baber Road, and Humayun Road, should be renamed in honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
