Breaking News: Congress MLA Abhimanyu Poonia clashes with DSP in Hanumangarh over laborer’s death

Tension flared in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh after Congress MLA Abhimanyu Poonia engaged in a heated argument with DSP Karan Singh over the alleged mishandling of a laborer’s death case. The confrontation took place during a protest outside the police station, where Poonia demanded the suspension of the local station officer. The conflict escalated to the point of near physical altercation. Poonia accused the Sangaria police of colluding with factory owners to suppress the case, after a laborer named Ajay reportedly died due to negligence while on duty. Despite clear lapses by the contractor, police allegedly avoided registering an FIR. After multiple rounds of talks, the administration and the victim’s family reached a settlement. Authorities promised an inquiry against the station officer and compensation of ₹7.5 lakh was provided, including ₹5 lakh under the Chiranjeevi scheme. Following the assurance, the protest was called off.
