Severe weather conditions in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have triggered flash floods and landslides, leading to massive destruction and widespread panic. In Uttarkashi, a cloudburst washed away a large section of the road connecting to the sacred Yamunotri Dham, stranding over 600 pilgrims in the Jungle Chatti region for days. Rescue operations are in full swing with NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, and local police working tirelessly to evacuate people via a newly carved mountain trail. Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, a devastating cloudburst on Monday night wreaked havoc, destroying homes, shops, and vehicles. Vyas River is in full spate, and the force of the landslide uprooted entire structures. The area near Thunag, about 15 km from the district headquarters, witnessed the worst damage. Locals described terrifying scenes of their homes buried in mud and cars crushed under debris. The Meteorological Department has issued more warnings as rescue teams continue to battle through rubble and high-flowing waters to reach affected areas.
