Around 300 farmers commit suicide in Maharashtra

For the first time in four years, as many as 300 farmers in Maharastra committed suicides in November 2019.

While Marathwada notched a deficit monsoon, parts of Western Maharashtra were hit by the floods in September, followed by nearly three-fourths of the kharif crops on over nine million hectares wiped out in the October unseasonal rains.

The steep rise in suicide cases came after the unseasonal weather conditions that lashed out in Maharashtra in October 2019.
