Ex-IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt gets life term for custodial death

 A Jamnagar sessions court here on Thursday sentenced sacked Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt to life imprisonment in a 1990 custodial death case.

Pronouncing the verdict, Jamnagar District and Sessions Judge D.M. Vyas charged Bhatt and then police constable Pravinsinh Jhala with murder.

Sanjiv Bhatt is a former Indian Police Service officer from Gujarat. He is known for his role in filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court of India against the then Chief Minister of the Government of Gujarat, Narendra Modi
