Why Is Kangana Ranaut Trending Amid Maharashtra Election Results?
The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance appeared set to retain power in the state and was leading in 204 of the 288 assembly seats, as per the latest figures by the Election Commission.
BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut started trending on social media just when the counting of votes for the Maharashtra Assembly began on Saturday. A video released by the actress against Uddhav Thackeray four years ago has resurfaced on X. The actress was caught in the crosshairs of the Mumbai Civic body during COVID-19, when a part of her sprawling Pali Hoill bungalow was demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The action was taken when Uddhav Thackeray, the then head of the undivided Shiv Sena, was Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The actress and her lawyer had claimed that the corporation was lying that the construction was illegal. She had said she was being targeted because she spoke against "move mafia" in "Bullywood".
Later, she released a video, which is going viral on social media again. "Today my house is broken, tomorrow your pride will be broken," she had said. Kangana further said that those who insult women power definitely get punished for their deeds. She also gave the example of Draupadi and Kauravas in her video.
