'Main Friendship Karna…': Woman Claims Cab Driver Sent Her Messages, Netizens React With Safety Concerns
Upset and concerned, the woman wrote to Uber to inform them about the 'inappropriate messages' received by her from one of the drivers after the ride.
Travelling in cab alone can sometimes be unsafe, particularly for women. There are several instances of harrowing experiences that women have encountered taking cabs to work or home on social media. Now, a woman has taken to the microblogging site X, formerly Twitter to share that she received unwanted texts from an Uber cab driver.
Upset and concerned, the woman wrote to Uber to inform them about the 'inappropriate messages' received by her from one of the drivers after the ride.
"This incident has not only left me feeling uncomfortable but has also raised serious security and safety concerns. I strongly believe that Uber should be a platform where customers, especially women, can trust the drivers and the overall experience. This incident has shaken that trust, and I am deeply concerned about the safety of female passengers who rely on Uber for transportation," wrote Bhumika.

She also shared screenshots of her conversation with the driver, who also shared an image with Bhumika.
The company at first responded to Bhumika with the usual answer, "Hi Bhumika, sorry to hear about the trouble. Could you please share with us the mobile number linked to your account via Direct Message? We'll follow up."
However, Bhumika wasn't happy with the "casual" response from the company and replied back saying, "Why are you not responding to my messages?"
This prompted Uber to write back again, "Hi Bhumika, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We understand how distressing this situation is for you right now. Our team is currently investigating this concern, and we will get back to you with an update shortly. We appreciate your understanding in this regard."
Bhumika's post since being shared has amassed close to 5 lakh views and tons of comments raising concern about the situation. Many people suggested her to file a police complaint.
"This is scary. The drivers know our phone number and address and we don't know anything about them. And, we need to depend on Uber. Not safe at all," commented one user on the post.
"This is so creepy. I hope they take some action against it asap," wrote another user.
"Hello, Bhumika, Just came across your post. This is a serious concern. I recommend you to please file a police complaint against this driver. This is for your safety," commented a third.
While a third wrote, "I was shocked when I heard that this happened to one of my friends some time back. This is some low. Hope some action is taken by Uber as this seems to be a general practice."
