‘Locals Saved Me’: Tourist Scammed by Rickshaw Puller in Delhi, Locals Step In to Help
A viral video shows a tourist in Delhi arguing with a rickshaw puller over payment. The puller demanded more despite being given Rs 500. Locals intervened, resolving the issue.
There is a video going viral that shows a rickshaw puller in Delhi’s market area arguing with a tourist. The fight began when the man felt that the amount of money given to him by the tourist was small and demanded more. This whole episode was shot by the tourist on his camcorder.
The video was posted on social media and has quickly surfaced and received over a million views. It becomes at this instance when the tourist approaches the rickshaw puller and offers him the sum of Rs 500 saying: “I’ll give you Rs 500, as a gift,” to which the man said, “Okay.”

Immediately after receiving the money from the tourist, the man asked for more saying that he needed two bank notes of 500 rupees. He said that “I took you to all the places,” so he wanted two notes of 500 rupees. In the video, the rickshaw puller asks for 1500Rs, the tourist gives 500Rs and hands over the note to the rickshawpuller. Nevertheless, in the video recording of the event, the driver is heard denying the receipt of the money and ask for more money.
The tourist, Samesamevic, said Rs 500 is enough. More on this argument, people formed a group around them and people in support of Samesamevic were present. They questioned him when he had been last fetched, several hours and they said so. One of them began to speak in English and resolve all the issues. One of them stated that the rickshaw puller should paid only two hundred rupees and return the rest of the money, but Samesamevic defended the man as he gave him five hundred rupees as a token of Christmas gift. Shortly after that the rickshaw puller disappeared from the scene and the video ended.
