Ravichandran Ashwin Produces 'Man Of The Match' Performance In 1st Test Vs Bangladesh
Ravichandran Ashwin will undeniably go down in history as one of the finest all-rounders in red ball cricket, and sits amongst the highest wicket-takers in the format. During the first Test match at his home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the 38-year-old scored a brilliant ton in the first innings, and capped off his memorable match with a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
"No, not really. Everytime I play in Chennai in front of this crowd. It is a great feeling for me. I have watched a lot of Test cricket, international cricket sitting in those stands. To perform in front of those renovated stands is a great feeling to be honest. It was an opportunity to dig deep and fight it out. I've seen so many team-mates do it in the past. Was a special innings, didn't sink in till day 2," said Ravichandran Ashwin during the post-match presentation ceremony.
"None of them gave me any, so I decided to give myself a gift. I just kept it really simple. Have to thank Jadeja he got me out of the tough situations during that partnership. I make a living by bowling Harsha, so bowling comes first. I think like a bowler naturally but have focused my thoughts with batting. Batting is something that comes naturally to me. I have made a cautious effort while I try to bat. Over the last three-four years, I have managed to do it fine. The compartmentalisation is a work in progress," he added.
