'I Saved Hindu Lives': Car Thief's Bizarre 'Explosive' Reasoning For Stealing Vehicle

A man caught stealing a car claimed he was "saving Hindus" from a bomb inside it. His bizarre excuse has now gone viral. Here's what really happened.

What's the most bizarre excuse that one can think of in a stressful situation? A car thief came up with the most outrageous reason behind his crime — Hindus and a bomb. A man who was caught allegedly stealing a car said he was "saving Hindus".

"I took the car because the car had a bomb. Now, you can defuse it. Do it quickly, otherwise the bomb might explode," he said in the undated video that is now going viral. He further revealed that he stole another car two days ago: "I took a black Honda City two days ago from here to save Hindus' lives."

He also claimed that he had come from the District Magistrate's office. The location of the video could not be ascertained.

The man in the video was clearly lying. There are clearly laid down sets of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in case of bomb threats and moving a suspected bomb in a car without any security and bomb squad deployment is not one of them.

Ideally, in a situation of bomb threat, the area must be evacuated in an orderly manner and authorities (police and fire stations) must be informed. Hospitals must be informed to help them be ready in case the situation gets out of hand. All civilians must be evacuated from the threat area.

If a car is suspected to have a bomb, it should not be started or moved under any circumstances. The police and the bomb squad are best equipped to ascertain this. Even the support teams, such as civil defence and Home Guards, should not approach the car and ensure that the surrounding areas do not have any civilians and approach roads are clear.
