Ayodhya: Angry Mob Thrashes Man For 'Kissing His Wife' While Bathing In Saryu River — WATCH

New Delhi: A video has gone viral in which a man is seen getting thrashed by the public for allegedly kissing his wife while bathing in the Saryu river in Ayodhya. The incident took place while both of them were bathing in the Saryu river in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya city. The police have started an investigation into the matter. A police officer told news agency PTI on Thursday that the exact date of the incident is yet to be confirmed even though some claimed it had happened at Ram ki Paudi ghat on Tuesday.

The purported video widely shared on social media shows the man being dragged away from his wife from the water as the group of people continued to push and hit the man.

The wife tried to intervene and save her husband but the angry mob got hold of the man and started thrashing him.     

However, the officer pointed out that no complaint has been received yet. “However, we are investigating the matter and trying to find the couple and the miscreants who attacked them,” he added, according to the PTI report.

Meanwhile, the Ayodhya police said officials have been asked to investigate and take necessary legal action in the matter.

"In-charge Inspector Police Station Kotwali Ayodhya has been directed to investigate and take necessary legal action," Ayodhya police said in a tweet.

Sarayu river is among the seven tributaries of Ganga considered to be holy by the Hindus. Ayodhya, Lord Ram's birthplace, is situated on the banks of the Sarayu river.
