Telangana Woman Ties 'Drug Addict' Son To Pole, Rubs Chilli Powder In His Eyes | WATCH
Police said the woman took the step as she wanted to punish his son for reportedly getting addicted to ganja.
New Delhi: A video of a woman tying up her 16-year-old son to a pole and rubbing chilli powder in his eyes in Telangana has gone viral. The incident took place in Suryapet district's Kodad town on Monday, PTI reported.
Police said the woman took the step as she wanted to punish his son for reportedly getting addicted to ganja.
The video shows the woman smearing her son's face with a handful of chilli powder as another woman is seen holding the boy's hands. The boy tries to resist the attempt but fails and is seen screaming in pain.
The woman untied her son after he promised that he would give up on his "drug addiction".
Police said the teenaged boy, a school dropout, had a habit of regularly leaving home for several days. He returned home on Monday after a week, angering his mother. The woman suspected that he had been taking some drugs and decided to punish him, PTI reproted.
After the video of the incident went viral, police counselled the woman, her husband and their son. The police advised the parents that they should take their son to a doctor or a psychologist over his drug addiction rather than punish him in such a manner.
The incident triggered a debate on social media platforms, with netizens describing it as the "best Indian treatment for ganja addicts". However, others said putting chilli in the eyes would not solve the issue and termed the "treatment as equally dangerous".
