"The workers of my political party are undertaking door-to-door campaign in the assembly constituency. Atishi Marlena has hired paid workers from other assembly constituencies for campaigning who are creating public nuisance," he alleged in his complaint, as reported by PTI. In addition, he alleged that AAP's workers "misbehaved" with the BJP workers.
In response, the chief minister alleged that the police were protecting Bidhuri and his nephew who indulged in hooliganism, and demanded the transfer of Govindpuri Police Station's officers.
She accused them of creating a stage of fear in Kalkaji to influence elections. "The local police are trying to hush up the case of BJP candidate Bidhuri and his nephew threatening and assaulting AAP workers and supporters," she alleged.
Police Officers Pressuring AAP Workers For False Statements: Atishi
She also lashed out that the police officers are "pressuring" the AAP workers to give "false" statements. "My volunteers are ready to give written statements in the presence of their advocate. However, the police seem to be in a hurry to close the case and are forcing the volunteers to sign on incomplete and false statements," she charged.
The chief minister is calling for an investigation by the Election Commission into allegations made by police from outside the South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, which was represented by Ramesh Bidhuri from 2014 to 2024.
However, Bidhuri claims that these allegations are unfounded and lack supporting evidence from audio-video recordings or independent witnesses. He also counter-alleged that his opponent, Atishi, circulated a "forged video" to damage his reputation and sway the election outcome.
