New Delhi: German camera and optical lenses giant Leica has inked a deal with electronics giant Xiaomi and the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra are likely to feature Leica branding on its cameras. Similar to the Mi 11 series, the Xiaomi 12 series may include Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced Edition.
According to the latest leak by Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station, the two companies have entered into a partnership for the upcoming Xiaomi 12 lineup.
Also, according to a report in Xiaomiui.net, two devices, namely Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced Edition devices were spotted in the Mi code. The two models are said to be codenamed Loki and Thor.
Currently, there aren't many details available for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The flagship, however, is likely to debut in early 2022. According to Digital Chat Station, the phone may feature three 50MP cameras and one of them could be a 1/1.5-inch periscope zoom lens with 5x optical zoom support.
Earlier reports suggested that Leica's partnership with Huawei will end post the launch of the flagship P50 series. However, there were no further updates on who Leica will partner with next.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi recently announced its proprietary Loop LiquidCool Technology, which, as compared to conventional vapor chambers solutions, has twice the cooling capabilities. Xiaomi intends to introduce the new Loop LiquidCool Technology to its products in the second half of 2022. It is likely that the Xiaomi 12 lineup arrives with this technology.
This proprietary technology by Xiaomi has an annular heat pipe system that is composed of an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber, as well as gas and liquid pipes. Placed at heat sources, the evaporator has a refrigerant that evaporates to gas when the smartphone is under high workload. The gas and airflow is then diffused to the condenser, where the gas condenses into liquid again. These liquids are absorbed and collected through tiny fibers in the refill chamber, which refills the evaporator, thus, making it a self-sustaining system.
