WhatsApp May Soon Let You Archive Chats On Windows Too

New Delhi: WhatsApp is testing the ability to test archived chats feature for Windows users that has been available for smartphone users for quite some time. Archived chats essentially lets WhatsApp users organise their conversations by hiding a selected individual chat or group chat and now, the Meta-owned messaging platform is working to introduce the feature for Windows too, according to WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp beta for Windows offers a more stable experience and it is a native app compatible with Windows 10 and newer OS versions. It has been developed to be compatible with multiple devices immediately. WABetaInfo also posted a screenshot of the beta feature on its webpage.
"Today, WhatsApp has released the new WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2213.3.0 update, bringing another missing feature. As you can see in this screenshot, it is finally possible to view your archived chats, but there is more: you can also archive and unarchive chats, even if there are some bugs (for example, the action to unarchive a chat won’t refresh the chats list)," WABetaInfo wrote on its page.
However, some features are not available for Windows such as the ability to send "view once" photos and videos, better management of sticker packs, and voice recordings among others. "The version of the archive implemented in this update is the newest one, so you are using the new archive: archived chats always stay in the archive when new messages arrive," WABetaInfo added.
Meanwhile, in a bid to check the spread of misinformation, Meta-owned WhatsApp is also working to set a limit on forwards in WhatsApp group chats. The world's most popular messaging platform is enabling new restrictions when forwarding forwarded messages to other group chats on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS users, WABetaInfo had said earlier this week.
