WhatsApp New Feature: Users Might Soon Be Able To Tag Their Contacts In Status Update Privately

This update not only enhances interaction but also provides users with more ways to share important moments directly with selected individuals.

WhatsApp consistently aims to improve user experience by introducing new features like WhatsApp channels and increasing video upload limits. In a recent development, the messaging service is working on a feature that will let users privately tag contacts in their status updates, reflecting its ongoing commitment to innovation and enhancing user engagement.

As per WaBetaInfo, this upcoming feature on WhatsApp will function akin to how users can mention others in their Instagram stories. Once available, users can include specific contacts in their status updates, with these mentions remaining invisible to other viewers, ensuring privacy. However, tagged contacts will receive a notification, informing them about the mention and encouraging interaction.

This update not only enhances interaction but also provides users with more ways to share important moments directly with selected individuals, fostering a more personalized and engaging experience on the platform. Users tagged in updates can respond, react, or engage in conversations, creating a more dynamic and interactive environment within WhatsApp status updates.

The new feature which is currently in the development stage is poised to enhance user interaction significantly, thereby making WhatsApp Statuses more engaging and interactive. WaBetaInfo recently discovered this feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.6.19, and reports suggest that WhatsApp is now preparing to introduce this feature to its iOS application.
