Twitter No Longer Showing Tweets To Only Logged In Users Amid Instagram Threads Launch

This comes amid the launch of Twitter rival Threads by Meta-owned Instagram.

Several Twitter users noticed that some content was once again accessible to visitors even without logging in to an account, which means people can open Twitter links in a browser without having to log into an account. Clicking on a profile will also bring people to a user's Twitter page as well as their bio. Their follower and following will all be visible, the media has reported.

This comes amid the launch of Twitter rival Threads by Meta-owned Instagram. With this Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is targeting Elon Musk-owned Twitter which has been drawing backlash in the wake of recent announcements.

Twitter had previously blocked content for visitors unless they were logged in to a registered Twitter account. However, this seems to have changed now, as first spotted by Mashable.

The Mashable report added that users have also reported that tweet links are once again showing content embeds on messaging platforms like Slack and Apple's Messages app. Mashable was also able to access the Explore page with trending topics by clicking on it in the sidebar on a tweet page.

Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram suffered an outage globally before the launch of Threads. Threads was officially rolled out to users on July 6 (Thursday). Said to be a rival to Twitter, Threads will allow users to share mini posts, just like Twitter, but it will leverage all the elements from Instagram, including username, followers, among others.

Threads has been launched globally, including India, but it didn't appear in some European app stores. Apple App Stores in some European Union countries, including Germany and Belgium, weren’t displaying Threads as of late Tuesday.
