Galaxy Unpacked 2023: Samsung Announces Event Date With Galaxy Z Flip 5 Teaser

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will take place at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, where the company is likely to officially unveil its next-gen foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Z Flip 5.

A month after officially confirming that confirmed it will host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on its home turf in South Korea, for the first time, Samsung now has confirmed the date of the launch event. The South Korean tech giant is likely to officially unveil its next-gen foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series on July 26 in Seoul. Samsung is also likely to unveil new accessories such as the Galaxy Watch 6 series and the Galaxy Buds 3 TWS earphones, but some reports suggest that the company may not refresh its TWS lineup this year. All the previous iterations of Galaxy Unpacked events were held in European countries and the US, and this is the first time that Samsung would host its flagship Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will take place at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, an intersection where Teheran-ro, a hub for domestic innovative startups, and Bongeunsa, a millennial Buddhist temple, converge.

Samsung announced in a press note, the date of the Galaxy Unpacked event. "Find out more by joining Samsung Electronics on July 26 as we host the very first Unpacked in Seoul, Korea, a place where traditional culture and futuristic visions intersect to inspire global trends and game-changing innovation," the company said.

How To Watch Galaxy Unpacked Event In India

The Galaxy Unpacked event will be streamed live on Samsung's own website Samsung.com, the Samsung Newsroom and Samsung’s YouTube channel beginning at 4:30 pm IST on July 26. Enthusiasts can stay tuned to Samsung Newsroom for more upcoming teasers, trailers, and the latest updates about the upcoming launch.

For over a decade, the South Korean tech giant has been hosting Unpacked in key cities around the world. Starting with the first Unpacked in March 2010 in Las Vegas, the company has hosted its flagship Galaxy Unpacked in New York, London, Berlin and Barcelona. The upcoming 27th Unpacked in Seoul, Samsung is shifting its direction for Unpacked for foldable devices to focus on different trend-leading cultural cities around the globe that closely align with the designated theme of each event.

Foldable smartphone shipments are expected to reach 16 million units worldwide -- an increase of 73 per cent year on year -- as the form factor is rapidly becoming mainstream with handset maker OnePlus also expected to join the bandwagon. Motorola also refreshed its foldables line with the Moto Razr series of foldables this week.

Shipments of foldables are expected to grow to 26 million units this year, according to a report by market intelligence firm Counterpoint Research.

Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 this year as successors to last year's Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 (read our review here) and Flip 4 that were unveiled in India in August. The latest Galaxy Z series devices are the toughest foldables ever made, Samsung also claimed.
