Carl Pei Visits Chennai Manufacturing Facility Ahead Of Nothing Phone 2 Launch And Said This

India's electronics exports will grow rapidly. There's a huge domestic market to support volumes, Nothing founder Carl Pei wrote on Twitter.

Consumer tech brand Nothing's founder Carl Pei has visited the brand's manufacturing facility in Chennai, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, ahead of the Nothing Phone (2)'s launch. Pei, after the visit, took to Twitter to announce that the facility has witnessed big improvement from last year. Nothing manufacturing unit in Chennai now has completely redone facilities with major improvements in cleanliness, security and processes, according to Pei.

"Just visited our manufacturing facility in Chennai and here are my reflections," Pei tweeted after his visit to the Chennai facility.

"India's electronics exports will grow rapidly. There's a huge domestic market to support volumes, and the costs today are competitive. As the supply chain matures, the costs will further improve. I think India has a 5 year window to capture this opportunity, before automation becomes mainstream," Pei further added.

His visit to the company's manufacturing unit comes close to the heels of the launch of the Nothing Phone (2), which is the successor to last year's Nothing Phone (1). Meanwhile, the Indian variant of the Nothing Phone (2) has also appeared on Geekbench ahead of the launch. According to the Geekbench listing, the Nothing Phone (2) will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

Lonon-based Nothing has recently closed an investment of $96 million. According to a report by TechCrunch, this funding will go towards expanding the consumer tech brand's business and lineup of devices, starting with its next smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2) which is expected to launch soon. With this round, Nothing's total funding has reached $250 million, as the company also crossed selling 1.5 million products.

As mentioned earlier, Nothing Phone (2) won't be a mid-range device like the Nothing Phone (1). The device will be powered by top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The Phone (2) may come with an updated Glyph Interface and a likely mute button. The Nothing Phone (2) will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Previous reports suggested that the smartphone will make its debut in the US, followed by other global markets, including India.
