The Income Tax department raided Chinese IT hardware manufacturer Lenovo's office in Bengaluru, Karnataka as part of a tax evasion probe, PTI reported on Wednesday. The I-T visited Lenovo Puducherry too, as part of the inquiry, says a report by news agency Reuters. Lenovo has confirmed the I-T department's visit and was quoted as saying that it was "cooperating with the authorities and will provide all possible support required".

Android Phone May Become Mini Earthquake Detector
Google has launched a new earthquake alert system for Android users in India. This system utilises the inbuilt sensors, like the accelerometer, in Android smartphones to detect earthquake activity and provide timely warnings. The Android Earthquake Alerts System, already operational in several countries worldwide, has been introduced in India in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Seismology Center (NSC).
WhatsApp To Bring New Colours To Chat Interface
Meta-owned WhatsApp is working towards introducing a new interface with new colours and redesigned icons, among other changes. The changes will be introduced on WhatsApp for Android, as per WhatsApp tracking website Wabetainfo. The website has posted several screenshots on its page where one can see key improvements to the WhatsApp interface, which will be rolled out via future updates. WhatsApp for Android will see newly designed new icons aimed to make the interface modern.
Blaupunkt Launches Affordable Google TVs In India
German electronics brand Blaupunkt on Wednesday launched two affordable 43-inch QLED and 55-inch 4K Google TVs in India. The 43-inch TV is priced at Rs 28,999, and the 55-inch is priced at Rs 34,999. The models are now available to purchase via e-commerce site Flipkart.
According to the German company, the 43-inch QLED TV boasts a staggering 1.1 billion colours on a QLED 4K display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, complemented by an elegant black design and Dolby-certified audio featuring Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus. It also offers over 1000 apps via in-built Chromecast and Airplay. With DTS TruSurround sound, a 50-watt speaker, versatile sound modes, and extensive connectivity options, this TV offers an immersive and tailored viewing experience.
Panos Panay To Head Amazon Devices
After spending more than 19 years at Microsoft, Panos Panay is joining Amazon to lead its Devices & Services business (D&S), and he will report to Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO announced on Wednesday. Panay was the product head at Microsoft and his most recent role was of an EVP and Chief Product Officer, leading the Windows and Devices division at Microsoft. He will take over after the outgoing hardware lead Dave Limp moves on from Amazon. Limp oversees the development of Amazon's consumer devices like Fire TV, Echo, and Kindle as well as the Alexa voice assistant.
Delete Threads Without Deleting Instagram Account
Users will soon be able to delete their Threads accounts without deleting Instagram accounts, says a report by TechCrunch. The ability to delete Threads account without deleting Instagram was missing and parent Meta also drew flak for it. Instagram Threads, the touted rival to Twitter, now X, received an initial rush and hit 100 million users within five days of launch. However, the app couldn't sustain that and its popularity started dwindling with reports in August saying the app lost 75 per cent of its followers on Android. Threads is still struggling to retain its users.
