Samsung Galaxy Fold 5, Flip 5 May Have Dust Resistance

Samsung is likely to unveil its next generation of foldables, the much-awaited Galaxy Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 with dust resistance, media reports say. According to a tipster named @chunvn8888, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 devices will come with dust resistance support, as cited by 9to5Google. To recall, the South Korean tech giant had introduced water resistance in its foldable smartphone lineup with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3.

Samsung has already confirmed it will host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on its home turf in South Korea, for the first time. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones at Galaxy Unpacked in late July in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, the smartphone major officially announced on Wednesday. The event will see the official unveiling of the next lineup of Galaxy foldable devices.

WhatsApp Introduces Channels 

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta on Thursday launched WhatsApp Channels, which the company says is a simple, reliable and private way to receive important updates from people and organisations, within the messaging platform. This is similar to what Telegram has done; Telegram channels allows users to broadcast information or content to all followers.

Meta-owned WhatsApp said it will bring Channels to more countries, including India, and the ability for anyone to create a channel over the coming months. WhatsApp Channels will be launched in partnership with global voices and select organisations in Colombia and Singapore, where Channels will first become available, followed by other countries.

Apple Changing App Store Policies

In a bid to fight the problem of copycat and impersonating apps, Apple has overhauled its App Store Review Guidelines policies. Among other App Store changes is the ability to report inappropriate or age-inappropriate ads in apps that contain ads. On the sidelines of its annual WWDC conference, Apple made changes to its App Store Review Guidelines.

According to the tech giant's revised guidelines, developers should not copy another app’s code or user interface, or have a name that is similar to another popular app on the App Store.

During his visit to India, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, shared his insights into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and its implications for employment. Altman recognised AI as a disruptive force but reassured that it does not signify the end of permanent jobs. He stressed the urgency for governments to adapt and develop new socioeconomic agreements in response to the rapid advancements in AI technology.

RBI Expands e-RUPI Scope, Streamlines Bharat Bill Payment System

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on June 8 announced a significant development. Non-banking prepaid payment instrument issuers will now be permitted to issue e-RUPI vouchers, as stated by the RBI. These vouchers are digital, pre-paid instruments that are conveniently received by beneficiaries on their mobile phones in the form of either an SMS or a QR code.

Samsung's Auto Chip To Power Hyundai Cars

Samsung has joined hands with Hyundai Motor where the former will provide auto chip solutions to the carmaker. Samsung has announced that its latest automotive processor, the Exynos Auto V920, has been selected to power Hyundai Motor Company’s next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, which is likely to be here by 2025.
