Explained: What Is Spotify Showcase That Lets Artists Promote Their Music On Home Feed By Paying

Spotify Showcase is essentially is a sponsored recommendation that helps artists share their music.

Music streaming giant Spotify's new tool called Showcase is here that will let artists market their music at a cost. According to Spotify, Showcase is a new campaign tool that "gives artists and their teams even more ways to get new and catalog music in front of the right listeners", right when it counts. With Showcase, they will be able to develop fans in ways that have never been "possible before" -- by giving their music its moment on Home. Spotify Showcase will let artists display a song or an entire album as a mobile banner, targeted at a specific type of listener in 30 markets. The banners will indicate that a recommendation has been sponsored.

"What’s more, Showcase gives artists and their teams the option to book multiple campaigns for the same release. For example, the tool allows you to spotlight a single, EP, or album with multiple campaigns to reach different goals, each targeting different markets or listener segments," Spotify wrote in a blog post.

Spotify Showcase is essentially is a sponsored recommendation that helps artists share their music -- whether it’s a newest release, or deepest catalog cut, or anything in between -- at any time to likely listeners across the platform. It appears as a mobile banner at the top of Spotify’s Home -- the most visited place on the streaming platform, where millions of listeners come to decide what to listen to, resulting in billions of streams each day, the company added.

Furthermore, on average, people who see a Showcase are six times more likely to stream the promoted release, the company noted.

It is pertinent to note that Spotify hit 220 million premium subscribers, as of July 2023. The Swedish music streaming giant said it has 551 million monthly active users (MAUs) and 220 million paid users, the company announced on Tuesday, during its Q2 earnings call.
