Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra May Cost Rs 9,000 More Than Predecessor: Here's What We Know So Far

Samsung Galaxy S25 Leaks: The Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t the only model potentially facing a price bump.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Leaks: Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra may come with a steeper price tag, according to recent industry reports. The price increase is attributed to the rising production costs of the device, particularly due to the inclusion of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which reportedly costs $200 per unit — 20 per cent more than its predecessor. Earlier leaks suggested that the Galaxy S25 Ultra model could carry a similar price tag as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. So, until Samsung announces anything officially, it's best to consider this report with a pinch of salt.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Higher Costs, Higher Prices

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to cost around $110 (roughly Rs 9,200) more to manufacture compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This could translate to a noticeable price hike for consumers in certain markets. Industry sources suggest Samsung may not absorb these increased costs, passing them on to buyers instead.

While Samsung has consistently used Snapdragon chips in its flagship Ultra models globally, this marks one of the costliest chips to date. The move away from Exynos chips, which were more economical to produce, has also influenced pricing. Efforts to use the Exynos 2500 were reportedly hampered by production issues at Samsung Foundry.

Why the Cost Hike?

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, equipped with advanced Oryon cores, has significantly increased production costs. In comparison, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro with its Tensor G4 chip incurs a production cost of about $80 per unit — much lower than the Snapdragon chip Samsung will use.

What to Expect from the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series

The Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t the only model potentially facing a price bump. The vanilla Galaxy S25 and the S25 Plus might also see higher price points. All models in the series will utilise Snapdragon hardware globally, a change attributed to low yields in Samsung’s 3nm wafer production.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to debut alongside its siblings on January 22, 2025. Samsung will need to tread carefully with its pricing strategy to avoid alienating its customer base, especially after the Galaxy S24 Ultra already launched at a $100 premium over its predecessor.

Compact Design for the Standard Galaxy S25

The standard Galaxy S25 is expected to feature a slightly smaller design than its predecessor, sporting a 6.17-inch display (marketed as 6.2 inches). It will measure approximately 146.9 x 70.4 x 7.2 mm, making it more compact than the Galaxy S24, which measures 147 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm.

As Samsung moves closer to the Galaxy S25 series' launch, the brand's ability to balance cutting-edge technology with competitive pricing will be closely watched.
