Instagram Changes Come Amid Uncertainty For TikTok
These updates come amid a potential ban on TikTok in the United States, set to take effect on Sunday, January 19. As TikTok faces uncertainty, many creators are encouraging their followers to transition to Instagram.
Last week, the Supreme Court signaled its support for a law that could result in either the sale or ban of TikTok, driven by national security concerns linked to China. Following this development, Instagram executives reportedly held internal meetings to prepare for a possible influx of new users, according to a CNBC report.
Now as per reports, it seems like the Chinese government is in preliminary talks with X owner Elon Musk to sell TikTok's operations in the US. As per Bloomberg, sources close to the matter have revealed that TikTok's US operations could either be sold through a competitive process or it could be sold via an arrangement by the government.
There is a possibility that Musk's X takes control of TikTok US and runs the business together.
