Independence Day 2024 Theme: Viksit Bharat

This year’s theme, “Viksit Bharat,” reflects the government's ambitious vision for India's future. The theme focuses on the goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, with a key emphasis on advancing education, healthcare, infrastructure, and technology. Prime Minister Modi’s speech is expected to highlight the nation’s progress, set future objectives, and honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, a grand parade will showcase India’s military strength, cultural diversity, and technological advancements. As part of the celebrations, key landmarks across the country will be lit up, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Independence Day 2024: 'Har Ghar Tiranga', 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'

In the lead-up to Independence Day, the government has launched two significant campaigns.

The “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative, running from August 9 to August 15, encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes to foster a sense of patriotism and unity. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, emphasised the campaign's role in promoting national pride.

Additionally, the Ministry of Defence has introduced the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, a nationwide tree-planting drive that coincides with the Independence Day celebrations. Launched by Prime Minister Modi on World Environment Day, the initiative aims to plant 1.5 million trees across the country, with participation from the armed forces and associated organisations.

As the nation prepares to celebrate its independence, these initiatives underscore the government's commitment to both national pride and environmental sustainability.
