Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 — the latest foldable offerings from the South Korean tech giant are now official. President and Head of 'Mobile eXperience Business' at Samsung Electronics TM Roh introduced the two new foldables at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, held in Seoul, South Korea. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes with a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED cover display, dubbed Flex Window, which is touted to be 3.78 times larger than Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, on the other hand, sports a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED cover screen.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes in two RAM+storage variants — 8GB+256GB and 8GB+512GB — with prices starting at $1,000. The Galaxy Z Fold 5, on the other hand, comes in three storage models — 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and 12GB+1TB — with prices starting at $1,800.
As for colourways, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes in eight colour options — Mint, Graphite, Cream, Lavender, Gray, Blue, Green, and Yellow (the last four are Samsung.com exclusives). The Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes in six colour options — Icy Blue, Phantom Black, Cream, Gray, and Blue (the last two being Samsung.com exclusives).

As for availability, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be up for pre-orders in select markets starting July 26 and will hit the shelves starting August 11.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specifications, Features
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 sports a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED 60Hz cover screen with a resolution of 720x748 pixels at 306ppi density. Dubbed Flex Window, the display offers quick access to handy, customisable widgets that provides access to everything between media playback to stock market updates. It also offers a pop-up keyboard for quick replies to messages. It can also show boarding passes, digital keys, health passes, as well as QR codes and coupons.
Inside, the smartphone dons a 6.7-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. The 'Inifnity Plex' display offers a resolution of up to 2,640x1,080 pixels at 22:9 ratio. It offers a peak brightness of up to 1,750 nits, making it perfectly suitable for outdoor use.
Let's talk about optics. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a dual rear camera setup, with a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 12-megapixel wide-angle snapper. The front camera is a 10-megapixel one.
The foldable is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB inbuilt storage.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 packs a 3,700mAh dual battery with support for Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare. When wired, the phone can charge up to 50 per cent within 30 minutes via a 25W adapter (sold separately) and 3W USB-C cable.
Running Android 13 out-of-the-box with One UI 5.1.1 on top, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 supports one nano SIM and one eSIM. In terms of sensors, there is the usual lot of side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensors, and light sensor.
Needless to say, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 supports 5G, LTE, Wi-fi 6E, and Bluetooth v5.3.

Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold5 boasts an impressive combination of features, offering a large, immersive screen and long-lasting battery in its thinnest and lightest foldable design yet. The device sets new standards in the Galaxy Z series, delivering unparalleled performance and convenience for users on the go. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz (adaptive) display, with a resolution of 2,316x904 pixels (23.1:9 ratio, 402ppi), on the outside. Inside, it sports a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz (adaptive) Infinity Flex screen, with a resolution of 2,176x1,812 pixels (21.6:18 ratio, 374 ppi). The increased peak brightness of over 30 per cent ensures optimal visibility even under bright sunlight, the company claims.
The new, slimmer S Pen Fold Edition is more compact and fits comfortably in the pocket, making real-time annotating and ideation a breeze. For added convenience, the Slim S Pen Case, available in various styles and colours, allows users to carry their S Pen in style. The inclusion of the S Pen Fold Edition, introduced in the third-generation Fold in 2021, further enhances the writing experience on the Galaxy Z Fold5, making it a powerful tool for completing important tasks from anywhere.
The improved Taskbar allows users to switch between frequently used apps quickly, with up to four recent apps easily accessible for more efficient multitasking. Enhanced two-handed drag-and-drop functionality ramps up productivity when moving content between apps and screens. Users can effortlessly drag and drop images from Samsung Gallery to Samsung Notes, streamlining their workflow. The hidden pop-up feature enables apps to run in the background, facilitating seamless multitasking, such as watching videos on full screen while simultaneously engaging in chat conversations.
For gamers, the Galaxy Z Fold5 offers an immersive experience with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform (powered by 12GB RAM and up to 1TB internal storage), enhancing graphics and enabling dynamic gaming and multi-game functionality with the help of AI. Additionally, the device's advanced cooling system ensures smooth gameplay with reduced lag and no performance drops during extended gaming sessions.
