Lenovo Foldable Display Laptop Showcased At MWC 2023 Might Launch At CES 2025: Report

A well-known tipster named Evan Blass shared images of what he claimed to be Lenovo's laptop with foldable display.

At the Mobile World Congress 2023, Lenovo showcased a prototype laptop and smartphone featuring rollable displays. While the company has been experimenting with rollable laptops for some time, it seems a commercial version could soon hit the market. In a Substack post, well-known tipster Evan Blass shared images of what he claims to be Lenovo’s first rollable-display laptop set for retail.

Blass mentioned that the "sixth-generation Lenovo ThinkBook Plus" is expected to debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, with sales following shortly after.

Lenovo Laptop With Foldable Display

At a glance, this new device seems reminiscent of Lenovo’s 2023 concept prototype, which featured a screen that extended vertically to provide additional display space. That prototype included a flip switch on the right side of the chassis, which, when activated, engaged motors to roll out the hidden screen. It took approximately 10 seconds to fully extend, revealing a 15.3-inch display.

In the shared image, the rollable laptop display is shown multitasking, with the upper portion of the screen playing a video while the lower half displays a document. This suggests a design aimed at enhancing productivity and user experience. Additionally, it appears that the laptop will incorporate AI-driven features and include the dedicated Copilot key, a functionality Microsoft introduced earlier this year to improve user interaction with AI-powered tools.

While Evan Blass refrained from disclosing specific hardware details, it remains to be seen whether Lenovo’s rollable laptop will target power users with robust specifications or position itself as a mid-range device catering primarily to entertainment and casual productivity. A key question surrounding this innovative device is its durability, especially regarding the rollable display’s ability to endure the rigors of daily use. When Lenovo first unveiled its rollable laptop concept last year, one of the main concerns raised was whether the flexible screen technology could withstand constant expansion and retraction without compromising its structural integrity or performance.
