Apple CEO Tim Cook Arrives In Vietnam For His 2-Day Visit, Will Meet Users & Boost Supplier Ties
Tim Cook said that during his visit, "Apple would boost its connection with local suppliers, clean water projects and education opportunities."
Apple CEO Tim Cook landed in Hanoi Monday morning to kickstart his two-day visit to Vietnam. This trip comes in light of Vietnam being a key manufacturing hub for the iPhone maker. During his visit, Cook is expected to meet students and content creators, according to Vietnamese state media. He said that he would also call upon the users of Apple products to better understand how they are employed, reported Vietnam's online newspaper VietnamNet.
The newspaper quoted Tim Cook as saying, "Apple would boost its connection with local suppliers, clean water projects and education opportunities."
Earlier last week, around 60 human and environmental rights bodies wrote to Apple in which they pressed the company to take action on Vietnam's detention of climate experts. The organisations are urging Apple to weigh in on the matter, given its manufacturing links.
