Annoyed By Ads In Between TV Shows And Movies On Amazon Prime Video? Here's How To Remove Them

Amazon's Ad-Free Plan is an additional cost layered on top of your existing Prime membership, and is priced at Rs 299/month or Rs 1,499/year in India.

Amazon Prime Video officially announced that it will roll out advertisements during its TV shows and movies. The new move, according to the company, is intended to boost revenue, but is bound to cause inconvenience among viewers accustomed to an uninterrupted experience.

According to a note on Amazon's support page, viewers will now encounter “limited advertisements” that will appear both "before and during playback". These ads cannot be skipped, unless users choose to pay extra by signing up for Amazon’s new Ad-Free Plan, which is available in both monthly and annual billing options in India.

However, even with the upgraded plan, users will not be completely free from  commercials. Amazon has said that live events, sports content, and free ad-supported shows will still contain advertisements. In addition, promotional trailers, which roll before a movie or show, will also continue to play, even for those who have subscribed to the Prime Video ad-free version. Content carrying labels such as “with ads” or “watch with ads” will clearly indicate what to expect.

Here’s How You Can Skip Ads

If ads are disrupting your binge-watching, you can switch to the Prime Video Ad-Free Plan by following these steps:

On Desktop:

1. Head over to the [Prime Video website](https://www.primevideo.com/).
2. Go to 'Your Account'.
3. Click on 'Go Ad-Free'.
4. Hit the 'Start Subscription' button to activate the plan.

On Mobile App:

1. Open the Prime Video app.
2. A small banner reading 'Go ad free' will appear at the bottom of your screen.
3. Tap it to receive an email with a link titled 'Continue signing up.'
4. Clicking the link will redirect you to a payment page, where you can choose between the Rs 129/month and Rs 699/year subscriptions.

Once the subscription is active, all linked profiles on your account will stop seeing ads during standard movies and TV shows.

Notably, Prime Video Mobile Edition and Prime Lite subscribers are not eligible for the ad-free upgrade. You’ll first need to switch to a full Amazon Prime membership to stop see in ads.

The Ad-Free Plan is an additional cost layered on top of your existing Prime membership, and is priced at Rs 299/month or Rs 1,499/year in India.
