"Manish Tiwary, Country Manager for Amazon India, has decided to pursue an opportunity outside of the company. Manish's leadership over the last eight years has been instrumental in delivering for customers and sellers, making Amazon.in the preferred marketplace in India. Manish will continue with Amazon until October to help ensure a smooth transition," an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement, regarding Tiwary's departure.

While Amazon has not yet named Tiwary's replacement, the company has indicated that Amit Agarwal, who holds the position of senior VP for India and Emerging Markets, will maintain close involvement with the Amazon India team. Agarwal is expected to provide guidance to the existing leadership team as they navigate this transition period.

The spokesperson emphasised Amazon's continued commitment to the Indian market, highlighting the company's optimism about future opportunities. They expressed enthusiasm about the momentum and business results achieved thus far, as well as the potential for further innovation and digital transformation in the region.

Major Rejig At AWS

In 2023, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the Cloud computing arm of Amazon, experienced significant leadership changes in its Indian operations. The company saw the departure of key executives, notably Puneet Chandok, who led the India and South Asia division. Chandok left his position in August of that year.

Following this, Vaishali Kasture temporarily assumed leadership of the commercial business for AWS in India and South Asia. Kasture, who previously managed enterprise, mid-market, and global businesses for the region, stepped into this interim role. However, her tenure was brief, as she decided to leave the company after only seven months in this position.

These high-profile exits within a short span marked a period of transition for AWS's leadership structure in the Indian subcontinent, potentially impacting the company's operations and strategy in this important market.
