Tamil Nadu Governor Issues Clarification On 'Fake' NSA Against Bihar YouTuber
The official release also said that appropriate action as per law will be initiated against those found propagating false and misleading information.
Tamil Nadu Governor's office put an end to the 'fake' NSA claim doing the rounds on social media on Friday by stating that the Governor did not approve any action invoking National Security Act (NSA) against Bihar YouTuber Manish Kashyap. The release also requested citizens to not share or promote such unverified forwards or contents.
In a press release issued by Public Relation's office of Raj Bhavan, the note said, “It has come to our notice that a message is being circulated in social media quoting that Governor of Tamil Nadu has approved an action under National Security Act against an individual from Bihar.”
It is clarified that the information is not true, the release said.
Further, it said, “The Governor has not approved any National Security Act against any individual himself. We request the citizens not to share/promote such unverified forwards or contents. Appropriate action as per law will be initiated against those found propagating false and misleading information.”
Earlier, some of the reports from mainstream media claimed that Governor RN Ravi approved Tamil Nadu government's decision to impose NSA on Kashyap. As a result, the YouTuber will have to spend 11 months in prison, the reports said.
Initially, YouTuber Manish Kashyap was arrested for circulating a false video of migrant workers especially Biharis being attacked in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain YouTuber Manish Kashyap's plea against the invocation of National Security Act (NSA) and multiple FIRs in Tamil Nadu and Bihar on his alleged fake video relating to the attack on migrant labourers from Bihar in the southern state. The bench remarked: "You have a state like the state of Tamil Nadu. You circulate anything to create disquiet in that state."
