Chennai: Three Class 9 students of Puduchatram Government Higher Secondary School were issued transfer certificates (TC) after they allegedly made fun of their visually impaired history teacher while he was taking class. The incident took place a few days ago but the issue came to light after the students took a video of the incident and circulated the video on social media.
According to a report on The New Indian Express, the visually impaired teacher was taking history class for students of Class 9 on Friday when three students suddenly started dancing in the classroom. The students then went near the teacher and walked by forming a circle. However, the teacher was unaware of the incident nor the remaining students brought up the incident to a teacher or headmaster.

It was also learned that the students took a video of the incident and posted it online. The video soon went viral and came to the attention of educationists creating a controversy.
Following this, the teacher took the incident to the school headmaster and Parents Teachers Association members. The PTA decided to issue TCs for the three students. Hence, based on the recommendation, the headmaster summoned the students and issued the TCs.

Meanwhile, District Education Officer Balasubramanian said that though TCs have been issued for the students, they have initiated steps to enroll the students in other nearby government schools.
