Covid Cases In Tamil Nadu: Fresh Infections Tally Breach 1,000-Mark After Four Months
TN Health Minister Ma Subramanian said, about 50% of everyday coronavirus infections are from Chennai.
Chennai: The number of coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu crossed the 1,000 mark after four months on Thursday. The state recorded 1,063 daily coronavirus cases and of the total, Chennai alone reported 497 cases.
The last time Tamil reported 1,000 cases was on February 19, 2022 after 1,051 patients tested positive for the virus during the decline of the third wave of novel coronavirus.
According to the COVID-19 bulletin released by TN Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, the state currently has 5,174 active coronavirus cases. The state also witnessed 567 patients getting discharged from the hospitals.
Overall the state also tested 22,946 samples of 22,757 patients.
On the other hand, the state reported zero covid deaths.

In the districts, Chennai reported the highest number of coronavirus cases with 497 persons testing positive for the virus followed by Chengalpattu with 190 patients, Tiruvallur with 63 patients and Coimbatore with 50 patients on Thursday.

Meanwhile, TN Health Minister Ma Subramanian said, about 50% of everyday coronavirus infections are from Chennai.
Further, he requested parents to not send their children to school even if they have mild coronavirus symptoms and told them to get immediately tested.
All the more, five persons who did not have facilities for home quarantine have been admitted to Government Communicable Diseases Hospital in Tondiarpet. The Minister also visited Kasturba Nagar where the family cluster was reported.
